hello Jonathan Paine. Tim Rowlandson sent me your blog URL. Nice to see your work again. Hope you're well. Got a question about your Pixar models - most of the eyelids are shut. Do you model them in base pose that way or is it for setup?? Best wishes Gerard (Gerry) van Ommen Kloeke, ex VFS (3d4))
Wow it's been awhile. Where are you these days? I usually modeled them that way for rigging purposes at Pixar. For reviews I tended to model them open as it gave the director a little better idea of what the character looked like. This wasn't always the case. On One Man Band, and Ratatouille they were modeled shut and Lifted.
wow, amazing sculptures! I love especially Syndrome, the tiger of Ice Age and the devil face character. your talent is really inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words Morena. It means a lot!

Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteI love your "Beast" character!
It reminds me of one of my favourite ray harryhausen movies "20 million miles to earth".
But better!!! :)
